1945

The Board of Trustees develops a 10-year strategic plan for the Institute. The plan follows Lovett's original intentions for Rice and prioritizes enhancing the curriculum, expanding the faculty and constructing new buildings - including a library, classrooms, laboratories, residence halls and a president's house. Oil revenues from Louisiana and the Rincon Field enable these expenditures as well as expanded investment in graduate programs and research projects.
