Input from the Honor Council, faculty members and administration shows that having the Honor Council handle appeals of its own decisions is ineffective, and authority over the 1st level of appeal moves to the Dean of Students. Following student-administration conflict in the aftermath of a cheating scandel in 2002-2003, the student body approves the creation of a 3-member Faculty Appeals Panel as the 1st level of appeal; the president of the university remains the 2nd, and final, level of appeal.
