Ima Hogg, pianist and founder of the Houston Symphony Society, tells Captain Baker and President Lovett that she will underwrite a music program at Rice to stimulate development of a music department. Her friend Estelle Sharp donates funds to support studies in civics and philanthropy. Their private support continues for several years.
