[May 10]

On May 10 Rice enters Houston's famous Art Car Parade with a billion billion nanocars, single-molecule cars developed in the laboratory of Jim Tour, the Chao Professor of Chemistry. All of Rice's billion billion cars fit nicely into a vial the size of a thimble. Greg Marshall, senior director of university relations, jokes, "We told the parade sponsors that we could guarantee that this year's parade would boast the largest number of cars in history, as long as they agreed not to charge us a separate entry for each one."
