J. David Hellums  joins the Rice faculty. He goes on to chair the chemical engineering department for 6 years, becomes a founding member of the Biomedical Engineering Laboratory and its director for 10 years and serves as dean of engineering for 8 years. He is an adjunct professor at both Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

 

David Hellums (standing), the A.J. Hartsook Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering in the Departments of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering, is known for his work in applying biofluid mechanics and cellular engineering methods to biological research and education.
