When Angelo Miele was a kindergartener in Formia, Italy, his teachers predicted that  he would someday be a professor and an engineer. They were right! Today, Miele is the Foyt Family Professor Emeritus in Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science. His research in flight mechanics, astrodynamics, applied aerodynamics, optimization theory and numerical methods has made a lasting impact on the aerospace industry.
