Rice’s David and Barbara Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center hosts a grand opening September 24-25. The Center offers state-of-the-art workout and health facilities for everything from competitive swimming and billiards to nutritional counseling and meditative classroom space. It is a visible sign of Rice’s commitment to the whole student — mind, soul and body — and is an ideal place for informal activities and interaction. The building is named for alumni Barbara '73 and David '71 Gibbs, who made the lead gift for the $41 million facility. Athletics Business Magazine names the Center a 2011 Facility Merit winner.
