Rice opens the BioScience Research Collaborative (BRC) in July and leases space to Texas Children's Hospital, its 1st Medical Center tenant. The 10-story, $300 million building at the intersection of Main and University -- Rice's largest building project to date -- enables joint research among scientists and educators from Rice and the Texas Medical Center. Envisioned as multidisciplinary and multi-institutional, the Center houses research labs, classrooms, auditoria, retail and restaurant space and underground parking. Rice hosts the BRC's grand opening and dedication April 1, 2010.

The BioScience Research Collaborative, the largest building project the university has ever undertaken, allows Rice scientists and engineers to team up with researchers and physicians from the Texas Medical Center to conduct research in biotechnology and the biological sciences.
