Rice's entering class matriculates on September 23, 1912. There are initially 59 students, but ultimately the class increases to 77 - 48 male and 29 female students. Initially, courses are offered in English, physics, German, mathematics, chemistry and architecture. President Lovett also announces the Institute's inaugural series of public lectures.
