Lovett College, honoring 1st President Edgar Odell Lovett, opens. Although the college bears a distinguished name, many on campus declare the concrete, riot-proof building looks like a toaster. Lovetteers gain notoriety by bleaching their hair yellow-orange during Willy Week and spray-painting their manes blue and yellow for Beer Bike. Lovett's annual Casino Party features an elaborate outdoor façade, casino games and fake money used for gambling or to designate raffle prizes. Lovett earns another distinction - the only college to create a cheer that is banned from O-Week.
